About ITE
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international membership association of transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. ITE, founded in 1930, has more than 17,000 professionals and students responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. Our members are traffic engineers, transportation planners, roadway designers, consultants, signal technicians, contractors, vendors, inventors, researchers, professors, students, and policymakers who work to maintain and improve surface transportation systems worldwide.
TexITE, the Texas District of ITE International has six local Sections representing urban centers and one "at-large" section for members from more remote or rural areas of the state. The South Texas Section (STITE) was founded 1997 and is the Largest section (by-area) of the TexITE district. STITE is working hard to ensure that transportation professionals in South Texas are receiving the latest and greatest in technical knowledge, professional development, networking opportunities, and much much more. STITE currently has about 150+ members throughout South Texas and is also home to a successful student chapter at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
How Far Does STITE Go?
The South Texas Section of the Texas District of ITE currently covers 46 counties including Aransas, Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Bexar, Blanco, Brooks, Calhoun, Cameron, Comal, DeWitt, Dimmit, Dunal, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Goliad, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hildago, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kendall, Kenedy, Kerr, Kinney, Kleberg, La Salle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Nueces, Real, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, Uvalde, Val Verde, Victoria, Webb, Willacy, Wilson, Zapata, Zavala in South Texas, and has a membership in excess of 150+ transportation professionals.
